What we collect
- Which wine pages are viewed and what is searched for — including the words typed into the search box. This tells us which wines people care about and, when a search finds nothing, which wines we should be listing.
- Clicks through to a retailer — which shop, which wine, and its price at that moment. This is how we can tell a shop how much traffic VinoComp sends them.
- A rotating, pseudonymous visitor identifier derived from your IP address and browser user agent, plus the page that referred you (address and path only, never its query string).
What we do not collect
We do not store your IP address. It is converted into a one-way hash together with a secret that changes every day, which means the identifier cannot be linked back to you and cannot follow you from one day to the next. There are no accounts, no logins, and no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We never see or receive anything you do on a retailer’s own site, including purchases.
How long we keep it
The visitor identifier and referrer are erased after 90 days. The remaining anonymous counts are deleted after 12 months.
Who else is involved
The site is hosted on Vercel, which provides a cookieless visitor count (no personal data, no cross-site tracking), and the data is stored in Supabase. Following a link to a retailer takes you to that shop’s own site, under their privacy policy, not ours.
